Free Government-Funded Childcare – What We Offer at Comet

✅ 15 Hours Free Childcare 

  • For all 3 and 4-year-olds 
    Every child is entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week, for 38 weeks a year (during term time), starting the term after their 3rd birthday. 

  • For some 2-year-olds 
    If you receive certain benefits or support, your 2-year-old may also qualify for 15 free hours. Ask us or check online to see if you’re eligible. 

30 Hours Free Childcare 

  • For working parents of 2, 3 and 4-year-olds 
    If both parents (or a single parent) are working and earning at least the minimum amount, you may be able to get 30 hours of free childcare per week. 

🗓️ When Can You Start? 

You can start using your free hours from the term after your child reaches the eligible age.

What if I don't qualify, but will still like a full time place?

We also offer the opportunity for families to ‘top-up’ their child’s 15 hour free nursery entitlement to a full time place (totalling 30 hours). This is available for 3 and 4 year olds and for working parents of 2 year olds. The full-time hours will be 9.00am-3.00pm, Monday to Friday. This can be extended to 8am-5.45pm by applying for our breakfast and tea club provision, further information is available from the office.
