Children’s Centre Practitioner

Salary and scale point/grade: Scale 4 (£27,060 - £28,419) pro-rata

Contract type: Fixed Term to March 2024 (likely to extend)

Hours: 16 hours a week – Term Time Only

Comet Nursery School and Children’s Centre would like to appoint a Children’s Centre Practitioner work as part of the Children’s Centre team to provide care, support and education to children and families.  Comet is an outstanding and inclusive Nursery School and Children’s Centre within a diverse and vibrant community.

We are looking for someone who has energy and commitment to this role and also: 

  • Experience of working with families and children under 5.
  • Someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children.
  • A good understanding of the importance of high quality learning experiences both inside and outdoors.
  • A caring attitude to young children and their families.
  • A commitment to working with families who come from our diverse community.
  • Good skills in literacy, ICT and numeracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to be flexible in the post and a good team member.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of stay and play sessions which will enhance children’s learning and development; identifying children who may need additional support and signposting these families effectively.
  • To contribute to improving outcomes for children by working with parents and colleagues to improve the quality of the home learning environment for children 0-5.
